In the joint exhibition part of me, the photographers Lilli Nass and Anna-Maria Boshnakova explore the profound themes of loss, memory, and personal growth. Lilli Nass uses photography as a medium to deal with grief. In her series entitled cursare, she asks herself the question: How does it feel to say goodbye when it is a gradual process? Nass offers intimate insights into the various stages of her father’s dementia after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of fifty-four. Through still lifes of objects collected and misplaced by her father, these become symbols of support and vulnerability in a time of searching and letting go. In contrast Anna-Maria Boshnakova explores the themes of trauma and access to one’s own emotional world. In her series entitled vom Erwachsenwerden (On Growing Up), she explores the deep roots of traumatic experiences that become ingrained in a person. The photographer describes the arduous path to recovery, interspersed with flashbacks and the search for answers to events that seemed long lost. Her works reveal the debilitating effect of memories that have been suppressed for years and now inexorably rise to the surface. part of me invites visitors to explore the universal themes of loss, trauma, and self-discovery. Through the powerful language of photography, Nass and Boshnakova open up spaces for reflection and the possibility of healing insight.
